The instruction manual recommends starting in the molar area (back teeth) and working toward the front teeth. Glide the tip along the gumline and pause briefly between teeth. Continue until all areas have been cleaned.

The video only showing the waterpik cleaning the front face of the teeth, but can it be used to clean the back face as well?

hi im a dental hygienist. Is more for people who dont floss, but are u flossing the proper way? Make sure you go deep till u see ur gum change a little bit to white because of the pressure and make the C movement for each side. If u feel u that ur flossing technic isnt that good and ur gums bleeds a bit, the u should get a waterpik.

The waterpik ultra! Much more powered than an older big model. Nice rotating pointer.
Now for the question, are you allowed to shoot water directly between the gum and the tooth possibly causing seperation and jamming food particles further down the crackline? I avoid this. I shut off the power instead of using the shut off valve. The waterpik is nice because right after a ******** babyback ribs dinner it simply blasts a ton of food right out of your mouth. Water & light mouthwash mix is ****.

Mine is a rechargable, so unable to control the pressure. waterpik should come out with an attachment that can control the pressure. The pressure is stronger than my teeth can take. Tomorrow I going to see a dentist.

It takes a bit of practice to use the unit without making a mess in the bathroom. Remember to lean over the sink and keep your lips slightly open to let the water run out of your mouth.

I have watched the video and advertisement & thought that it is good. So I buy one & try. The water that bounced back from your teeth can mess up the whole place, the mirror gets wet, your shirt will definitely get wet. Mine is a rechargable so no pressure control. It goes between the teeth & hurt the tongue. I foss after using it & there are still particles. Fossing is best if u have tried this.

I’ve been flossing, using an Oral-B electric toothbrush, and a Oral-B flouride mouthwash that my dentist recommend. So far I haven’t had any problems with this combination. Is it still worth getting a Waterpik or is this really something that’s for people who just don’t floss?

Water Pik, Inc dental water jets are recommended for use on the teeth and gums. All units are capable of producing pressures high enough to damage soft tissue in the ears, throat and nasal cavities.

Yes, a recent study with biofilm expert Bill Costerton showed the Waterpik® dental water jet can effectively remove plaque. The study showed that either the standard jet tip or orthodontic tip removed significant plaque both above and below the gumline. The study will be published a dental science journal called Compendium in March.
